Director and choreographer Adam Shankman has been named chief creative officer of DanceOne, a new brand from TZP Group. DanceOne will serve as the world’s largest dance holding company, featuring the nation’s leading dance education and competitions.
“The whole team is beyond excited to make DanceOne the biggest global dance brand available to everyone in all markets. The idea of being able to capture the joy, spirit, and love of dance, in all forms, and support all these choreographers and dancers in all of their creative endeavors couldn’t be closer to my heart,” Shankman told Variety. “Being able to tap into all of these resources to create or platforms and programming for the dance community and beyond is our mission at DanceOne, and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and create, create, create!”

“I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible DanceOne team. Personally, I would have nothing without dance. It’s who I am, and what gave me a life. Elevating dancers, choreographers, teachers, and putting them on the global digital stage while developing unique educational, scripted, documentary, and non-scripted content is something I’ve always dreamed of. This is deeply personal for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity,” Shankman said in a statement.
To create DanceOne, TZP Group made strategic investments in Break The Floor Productions and Star Dance Alliance. As a result of this transaction, Break The Floor Productions brand will be discontinued, and its premier brands will be held directly under the DanceOne brand name. Star Dance Alliance will sit separately under DanceOne, with its events continuing to run independently.
Gary Pate will serve as CEO of DanceOne, with Chris Ganan as president and chief strategy officer. Russell Geyser, the former CEO of Break The Floor, will remain on the board of directors and serve as non-executive vice chairperson.
DanceOne’s leading priority is to elevate safety standards across its platforms for kids to learn and celebrate movement. The company hosts over 500 yearly elite dance events and conventions, including Jump, Nuvo, 24Seven and The Dance Awards as well as Star Dance Alliance’s Starpower and Dream Maker.
